Easter 2003 was in mid April, and the warmest weather we can ever remember experiencing in Scotland. It had been dry for weeks, the moss and heather were brittle and we saw several quite serious fires due to the dry conditions. One night, Dave walked to the top of Black Wood to get some sunset pictures over the Spey valley, ended up watching a helicopter dropping water on a blazing fire across the hillsides. Spectacular but scary, pictures on here when I get around to scanning them!

We got to go walking, and bagged another Munro called Geal-Charn, of of several in the area with that name, we've walked up most of them.

Lochan Na H-EarbaThe weather had been very dry when we went to Scotland for Easter 2003, the hills had no snow and the moss and heather were very brittle. There were several quite serious fires due to these conditions. It was great for walking though, we cycled a couple of miles and left our bikes at the head of Lochan Na H-Earba, along with several others who obviously had the same idea.

Karen at Ardverikie Forest viewpointWe walked for miles, tiring in the unusually warm conditions. However, there's always a good view to admire, so it's no hardship to stop for a rest and a bite to eat. Karen is admiring the view towards Loch Pattack, before we headed to Geal-Charn, one of the many 'Munroes' in the area.

Merlin the Pyrenean Mountain DogMerlin the Pyrenean Mountain DogThat dog is huge, and he's only half grown ... Seen here in April 2003, Merlin the Pyrenean Mountain Dog is a playfull 4 month old puppy. The empty plastic bottle was his favourite toy, lets hope he stops chewing things soon, he'll be too big to argue with.
