From Creag Meagaidh

As we get older, and we continue to resist any and all temptations to buy a caravan, we do occasionally holiday in rented cottages or static caravans. The convenience of a large bedroom and solid walls means that on our many trips to Scotland, we always stay with friends in the Highlands, very welcome given the changeable nature of the weather and especially when we celebrate New Year up there. There are several pages from various Scottish trips because we go so often, lots of pictures to have a look at to see what it's like at different times of the year.

These pictures are all from the area around Laggan, in the Monadhliath Mountains, a fabulous area for both walking and cycling. It's also the setting for the BBC TV series, "Monarch of the Glen" and it's easy to see why it's such a popular area. Many people do miss it however, so the next time you're heading North on the A9, turn west at Dalwhinnie and go and have a look. We stay at Strathmashie with Mark & Pat who run their music publishing business from home, surrounded by assorted children, cats and huge dogs. They have accommodation available, so if you want to see the area you could always get in touch with them.

Have a look at the pictures from some of our trips to Strathmashie by selecting them from the 'UK Holidays' section of the menu on the left of this page, or follow the arrows at the bottom of the page.
