These are links to services which I've used and I'm happy to recommend, mostly they're free because I'm too tight to pay for things if I can avoid it. It's your choice to use them however, if there are any problems, it's not my fault, really...

Getting a place in the search engines can be a real pain, click on this link for my ideas on making it work.

Keeping your PC free of viruses, spyware and other nasties needn't be hard work, however it is an essential activity. Keep backups of important data such as photos, financial stuff and commercial data if you run a business. Do it, don't neglect it. One day it will go wrong and you'll be glad of the backups.

Get a firewall and set it up properly, get an anti-virus product and set it up properley. Do both of these and you'll mostly be OK. Get products to check for and remove spyware and other malware and you should be pretty safe.

Security Ad-aware from lavasoft
Spybot S & D
Free tools for removing spyware, advertising and a whole range of parasites and other nasties.
Sygate Firewall - free, essential and it works. It's been taken over by Symantec which I'm not too happy about but it's staying on my PC unless they start messing about with it.
AVG from Grisoft Anti Virus - free, essential and it works
Thunderbird
Firefox
Get some free security in your email and internet browsing with these products from Mozilla.
Winpatrol Keeps an eye on many background activities and can warn you if something's trying to gain control of your PC by updating registry or startup without your knowledge.
MS Anti spyware Worthwhile, it occasionally finds things which the others don't.
